§ Mr. Lathamasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will make a statement on the response which he has received from the Government of Zambia regarding the blocking of funds lawfully due to British subjects formerly resident in Zambia, but now living in the United Kingdom; and what further action he intends to take on this matter.
§ Mrs. ChalkerThe Zambian authorities are committed to honour their obligations to remit blocked personal remittances when foreign exchange flows in to the country improve. We continue to remind the Zambian authorities of these obligations and to draw to their attention the hardship which the delay in repatriation of funds can cause in individual cases.
