HC Deb 12 January 1987 vol 108 c25W
Mr. John Mark Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what is his latest information as to which of the teachers' unions agree with the employers' side majority proposals; and which do not.

Mrs. Rumbold

I understand that at the Burnham committee meeting of 7 January only two unions—the NUT and AMMA—confirmed their wish to adopt the proposals made by the majority on the employer's side. The remaining unions—NAS/UWT, NAHT, SHA and PAT—did not. This compares with the four unions which signed the ACAS document on teachers' pay and conditions after the Nottingham/London talks in November, and the five unions which signed the Coventry heads of agreement in July 1986.
