asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether it is their intention to participate in any way with the United States in research, development, etc., of anti-tactical ballistic missiles and if so whether this is (a) under NATO auspices or (b) with the full agreement of our West European NATO Allies.

As I informed the noble Lord in my reply on 11th June 1986 (cols. 379–380), the defence of Europe against tactical ballistic missiles is currently being studied within NATO. The United Kingdom is participating fully in these studies.
