HC Deb 10 February 1987 vol 110 cc187-8W
Mr. Tom Clarke

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what are the projected deficits for each of the public sector colleges in Scotland in the current financial year.

Mr. John MacKay

Colleges are expected to operate within the cash limits which have been set in their recurrent grant allocations. However, present indications are that three colleges of education are likely to incur deficits at the end of the current financial year as follows:

£000
Jordanhill College of Education 300
Moray House College of Education 70
Dunfermline College of Physical Education 70

Mr. Tom Clarke

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) what is the recurrent grant projected for each college in the public sector in the next financial year;

(2) what representations he has received from public sector colleges about the sufficiency of recurrent grants in the next financial year to cover their expenditure requirements.

Mr. John MacKay

Recurrent grants in respect of the next financial year have not yet been determined for the public sector colleges.
