asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make a statement about the future of the Welsh language and the progress he has made with a Welsh language development committee.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

Agreement with the WJEC on the setting up of the committee, which was announced on 21 January, is an important step forward in our support for the Welsh language.

Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he intends to publish in full all the responses he receives from his consultations with specified organisations in Wales concerning a new Welsh Language Act after the consultation period has ended on 31 March.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

I shall decide how best to make public the results of the consultation exercise in the light of the number and quality of responses received.
