Mr. Tom Cox

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what present discussions his Department is having as to possible sites to be used for the disposal of radioactive waste.

Responsibility for indentifying possible sites for the disposal of radioactive waste rests in the first instance with NIREX. My Department has discussions with NIREX and other Government Departments as necessary on issues of common interest, in pursuit of the Government's published policy on radioactive waste disposal.
