§ Mr. Meacherasked the Secretary of State for Social Services why the report by the Office of Population, Censuses and Surveys on the alleged link between leukaemia and nuclear power stations has still not been published and when he now expects to publish it.
§ Mr. Newton[pursuant to the reply, 3 February 1987, c. 586]: The report is a statistical study to provide better data about cancer incidence and mortality in the vicinity of nuclear installations in England and Wales 1959–80. It is expected to be published in March-April 1987 by the Office of Population, Censuses and Surveys in its series of studies of medical and population subjects. The data assembled in the study will be published in the report as an extensive series of tables or will be available on microfiche. My right hon. Friend will be asking the Committee on Medical Aspects of Radiation in the Environment to examine the implications of the data in this report; its advice to him will be published in due course.
