Mr. Meacher

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will give the average number of beds available in National Health Service hospitals in Scotland nationally and for each health board for 1979 and 1985 and the percentage change in each case from 1970 to 1985 for (a) acute, (b) geriatric, (c) mental illness, (d) mental handicap, (e) maternity and (f) all specialities.
