HC Deb 02 February 1987 vol 109 cc526-7W
Mr. Favell

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what was the amount per head expended in each passenger transport authority area and in each county for the most recent 12-month period for which figures are available.

Mr. David Mitchell

The table shows 1986–87 budgeted expenditure on passenger transport revenue support (PTRS) and concessionary fares by local authorities and PTAs in each shire county and PTA area, expressed as a single £ per head figure. It is not possible to exclude from PTA figures their expenditure on British Rail services under section 20 of the Transport Act 1968. Such expenditure amounted to £4.99 per head across all Metropolitan county council areas in 1984–85.
