To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many representations he has received(a) in favour of, and (b) opposed to proposed legislation on Sunday trading.

Since 20 November 1986, when my right hon. Friend the Member for Ribble Valley (Mr. Waddington) answered a similar question from the hon. Member for Solihull (Mr. Taylor), at column 297, we have received 248 written representations broadly in favour of Sunday trading and 147 against.
