HL Deb 17 December 1987 vol 491 cc910-1WA
Lord Rea

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they believe it desirable that all district health authorities should appoint one (and eventually two or more) consultant community paediatricians and whether they will state what constraints are preventing a more rapid increase in appointments of consultant community paediatricians.

Lord Skelmersdale

The Government remain fully committed to the principles of the Court Report onChild Health Services which recommended the appointment of consultant community paediatricians. Such appointments arc however for districts to decide from within their own manpower priorities and in the light of local paediatric needs.
