§ Mr. CousinsTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list the expenses and emoluments paid to the chairs and members of regional water authorities for the years 1985–86 and 1986–87, distinguishing between executive and non-executive board members, and including any performance bonuses for such years paid to such members after the conclusion of the financial year.
§ Mr. MoynihanInformation about board members' expenses and emoluments for 1985–86 and 1986–87 is included in the water authorities' 1986–87 annual reports and accounts. These were presented to Parliament on 15 July 1987.
In addition, performance bonuses were awarded for the first time for 1986–87; only chairmen and executive members of authorities which met or exceeded agreed performance aims were eligible for payment. The bonuses were calculated as a percentage of members' renumeration using the following rates:
