§ Mr. CartwrightTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many prosecutions for speeding there have been of drivers of(a) coaches, (b) lorries and (c) private cars in each of the last five years.
§ Mr. HurdNo reliable information is available for specific types of vehicle. The available information relates to findings of guilt for all speed limit offences and is published annually in the Home Office statistical bulletin "Offences Relating to Motor Vehicles, England and Wales" — table 7 of issue 36/87. Further details are published in supplementary tables to this bulletin—table 5 of the issue for 1985. Copies of both publications are in the Library; the issue for 1986 will be published very shortly. In order to reduce the burden on the police of statistical collection, as from 1 January 1987 these further details ceased to be collected.
