HC Deb 04 December 1987 vol 123 c739W
Mr. Nicholas Winterton

To ask the Leader of the House what is his estimate of how many copies have been made on photocopiers in the House in each of the last five years for which figures are available; and what has been the total cost of supplying, maintaining and running the photocopying machines in each of those years.

Mr. John Wakeham

Figures are not held for the total number of copies made in the House. Based on the expenditure figures given in the table and the average cost of copies as billed through HMSO an assessment of the number of copies made is:

1984–85 14,000,000
1985–86 16,000,000
1986–87 16,500,000

Photocopier hire charges, excluding VAT, which include engineering, maintenance and consumables other than paper, for the last five years are as follows:

Year £
1982–83 128,000
1983–84 157,000
1984–85 197,000
