HC Deb 02 December 1987 vol 123 cc587-8W
Mr. Clay

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many category A Irish prisoners have been transferred at their own request from England and Wales to Northern Ireland since 1973.

Mr. John Patten

The information readily available shows that five category A inmates sentenced in England and Wales have been permanently transferred to establishments in Northern Ireland since 1973. All are thought to have been originally from Northern Ireland.
