HC Deb 02 December 1987 vol 123 c587W
Mr. Ashley

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will seek to amend the Fire Precautions Act 1971 and the Fire Precautions Order 1976 so as to have trainees included in the count when determining whether or not a premise requires a fire certificate.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

When the Fire Precautions (Factories, Offices, Shops and Railway Premises) Order 1976 is replaced to give effect to provisions contained in the Fire Safety and Safety of Places of Sport Act 1987, provisions will be included in the new order for trainees to be counted as employees for the purpose of determining whether premises require a fire certificate.
