To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science what steps his Department is taking to train school governors for their new duties; and if he will make a statement.

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he intends to make any provision for the training of school governors to enable them to implement his proposals on school government.

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether school governors will be given any special training to enable them to carry out the duties required of them under the Education Bill.

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science what provisions he is proposing to make for the training of school governors so that they can implement his proposals on school government.

The Government recognise that the increasing responsibilities of school governors will reinforce the demand for appropriate training. We intend to discuss what needs to be done with all interested parties, including education authorities, voluntary bodies and the business community.
