To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many redundancies the Manpower Services Commission's records show to have taken place as a result of business closures in Wales since June 1979.

[holding answer 30 November 1987]: The information is not available in the form requested. I am, however, delighted to say that it is certain that redundancies are at a much lower level this year than they have been in recent years including the years 1977–78 and 1978–79.
