§ Mr. Peter WalkerGrants are paid in instalments related to the achievement of the projects' forecast objectives. Each claim for payment is required to include a report on all aspects of project progress, including job creation, certified by an independent accountant. In addition, projects are inspected by officals of my Department at appropriate intervals to verify the details.

§ Mr. Peter WalkerStatistics collected on projects receiving regional aid include employment achievement against forecasts. For completed projects since 1979, the proportion of jobs achieved against forecast is(a) 87 per cent. for projects generally and (b) 85 per cent. for inward investment projects from overseas.
