HC Deb 09 April 1987 vol 114 c374W
Mr. Sheerman

asked the Paymaster General what steps the Manpower Services Commission takes to ensure that all companies in receipt of funds from it have complied with company law in respect of accounting and financial records.

Mr. Trippier

All limited liability companies with which the Manpower Services Commission has contracts are required to comply with company law in the same way as all other limited liability companies.

The companies are subject to external audit, and external auditors have a responsibility to advise companies on compliance with company law. The audited accounts, together with information required on the annual return, must be filed with the Registrar of Companies.

If, during the course of approval and monitoring work, staff of the Manpower Services Commission become aware of any failure to comply with company law, the facts will be pointed out to the company. The company will be advised to take the necessary steps to put matters right.
