HL Deb 26 November 1986 vol 482 c633WA
Lord Sudeley

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will confirm that lawfully begotten children will still have legal rights over and above those of unlawfully begotten children as a result of the Family Law Reform Bill.

The Lord Chancellor

The policy of the Family Law Reform Bill is to remove, so far as possible, the remaining legal disadvantages of illegitimacy which affect the illegitimate child. The Bill does not, however, limit an individual's freedom to dispose of his property in any way he chooses. I will be dealing with this subject in greater detail in my Second Reading speech and would respectfully request my noble friend to await the debate tomorrow.
