Senior medical and dental staff (that is, the consultants and senior registrars) have their contracts with regional health authorities or teaching districts only, and are not allocated to individual districts in centrally held statistics. It is not therefore possible to provide an overall total number of staff employed within a specific district. Those staffing figures which are available, are shown in the table:
