§ Mr. Tony Banksasked the Secretary of State for Transport what is the current estimate of the total cost of the four London area assessment studies.
§ Mr. Peter BottomleyWhen completed the first stage of the studies about the problems of the areas concerned and the associated wide public consultation are expected to cost altogether some £3 million. Lack of co-operation from the GLC has delayed the work and increased the cost. We hope to be able to publish the stage one reports later this year. The cost thereafter will depend upon work commissioned after the public have been able to comment on these reports.
