HC Deb 25 March 1986 vol 94 c460W
51. Mr. Terry Davis

asked the Secretary of Stale for Social Services what is his latest estimate of the numbers of people who died as a result of the cold weather in January and February.

Mr. Whitney

It is not possible to make an accurate assessment of the number of deaths due solely or primarily to this period of cold weather. I am, however, studying the results of the study of hypothermia statistics which I announced in my reply to the hon. Member for Holborn and St. Pancras (Mr. Dobson) on 19 December 1985 at column321.
