§ Mr. David Atkinsonasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs in what way Her 341W Majesty's Government gave separate recognition to certain member states of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
§ Mr. RentonWe do not recognise as a separate state any part of the USSR. Our acceptance in the negotiations leading up to the establishment of the United Nations that the Ukrainian SSR and the Byelorussian SSR, as well as the USSR, should be treated as full UN members with appropriate voting and other rights, does not affect that position.
