§ Mr. Wainwrightasked the Secretary of State for Social Services why the chairman of Huddersfield district health authority was informed by ministerial letter that he was not being re-appointed and later informed that he has been re-appointed.
§ Mr. HayhoeI regret my mistake in sending the Huddersfield chairman a valedictory letter on 18 February. It was withdrawn the following day and I have apologised. I am glad that he has accepted my apology and my invitation to serve for a further term of four years. There is no truth in the suggestion that I understand has been made locally that the hon. Member's intervention influenced this matter in any way.
