§ 30. Mr. Rostasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what progress he is making with his preparations for privatising the regional water authorities.
§ Mr. John PattenMy Department is continuing its preparations for legislation, which will be introduced at the earliest opportunity. Bids have been received from merchant banks for the work of advising the Government on flotation and an appointment will be announced shortly. I expect soon to issue consultation papers on protecting the water environment and a review of water and sewerage law.
