§ Mr. Ottawayasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what has been the response from local authorities to the urban housing renewal units invitation to them to bid for additional housing investment programme resources for 1986–87, in order to implement schemes for the improvement of conditions on their run-down estates.
§ Sir George YoungI am delighted with the response to the urban housing renewal unit's invitation to targeted local authorities to bid for additional resources to support schemes which will revitalise their rundown estates. So far 35 authorities have made bids for schemes on 94 estates involving proposals for localised management, community refurbishment schemes and the attraction of private sector skills and resources. We have already given approval in principle to schemes in Calderdale, Coventry and Gateshead. Further approvals will follow shortly.
§ 67. Mr. Pikeasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what further representations he has received about 1986–87 housing investment programme allocations.
§ Sir George YoungVarious representations about the 1986–87 housing investment programme allocations have been made during visits, at meetings, or in correspondence.
