HC Deb 19 March 1986 vol 94 cc243-4W
Mr. Spearing

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he intends to call in the detailed planning application for the terminal buildings and runway of the proposed short take off and landing airport in the royal docks; and if he will make a statement.

Sir George Young

No. The details of the proposal, the outline of which has already been approved, are for the local planning authority, in this case the LDDC.

Mr. Spearing

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he is satisfied that the report of the noise consultants appointed by the London Dockland Development Corporation in respect of the planning application for terminal buildings and runway for the proposed short take off and landing airport in the royal docks demonstrates that the application conforms to the terms of the relevant agreement under section 52 of the Town and Country Planning Act; and if he will make a statement.

Sir George Young

It is for local authorities to determine the proportion of their resources spent on the housing stock, and the extent to which they take advantage of additional resources available through my Department's urban housing renewal unit and other programmes, including urban development grant and derelict land grant. The Government have increased the weightings for inner city authorities within the generalised needs index which is used to distribute housing capital resources.
