§ Dr. Roger Thomasasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what are the total moneys spent by (a) central 93W Government and (b) waste disposal authorities in England and Wales on the post-operative care and rehabilitation of hazardous waste land-fill sites.
§ Mr. WaldegraveI regret that this information is not readily available. My Department does not keep a record of the amounts of money spent by waste disposal authorities on the post-operative care and rehabilitation of hazardous waste land-fill sites. Central Government expenditure in England for this purpose comes under my Department's allocation to derelict land reclamation, currently at £82 million; only a very small proportion of this total is likely to be allocated specifically to hazardous waste land-fill sites.
