HC Deb 18 March 1986 vol 94 c93W
Mr. Greg Knight

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list the total number of each species of non-human primate which have been imported into Britain in each year since 1979.

Mrs. Rumbold

Details of recorded imports of non-human primate species in 1979–83 are given in the annual reports on the implementation in the United Kingdom of the convention of international trade in endangered species (CITES) published by this Department.

Since January 1984, CITES has been implemented under EC regulation 3626/82; trade statistics for 1984 and 1985 will be published by the European Commission in due course. I shall write to the hon. Member with details of the United Kingdom figures.
