asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make a statement on the facilities to be provided in phase 3 of the development of the royal south Hampshire hospital, Southampton together with their cost and the expected date of completion.

Information held centrally records that the Royal south Hampshire hospital phase 3 will provide 35 oncology beds, 40 bed day unit with three theatres, endoscopy suite, 10 X-ray rooms, pharmacy, pathology department, ear nose and throat services, and catering facilities. The building arid engineering cost is £11 million. The estimated date for completion is October 1986, following which a period of commissioning will take place before the hospital opens.
