asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on recent shortages of accommodation at the infectious diseases unit of Ruchill hospital, Glasgow.

The Greater Glasgow health board is reviewing its proposal to close a ward in the infectious diseases unit at Ruchill hospital in the light of further studies which it has carried out. The board will take into account the recent cases to which the hon. Member has referred and will consult interested parties over any changes which it proposes.

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will give the capital allocation figures for each of the past three years and the coming financial year to Strathclyde region in respect of providing services for the profoundly handicapped.

Local authorities are provided with a single capital allocation in the social work field each year but are free to determine the priorities for expenditure in the light of their own assessment of local needs.
