HC Deb 25 June 1986 vol 100 c235W
Mr. Canavan

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) pursuant to the answer of 29 October 1985, Official Report, column 385, if he will report on the conclusions of the Warren Spring laboratory investigations into the content of dioxins and furans in the flue gases from municipal incinerators;

(2) pursuant to the answer of 21 October 1985, Official Report, column 96, concerning stack emissions, if he will give details of the date of publication of the investigations referred to in the answer.

Mrs. Rumbold

Results so far available from tests carried out by Warren Spring laboratory on flue gas emissions from municipal incinerators show that trace amounts of polychlorinated dioxins and polychlorinated dibenzofurans are produced. The levels are below air quality standards currently in use worldwide. A full report will be published later this year.
