Mr. Janner

asked the Prime Minister (1) if, when she has discussions with the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany during his forthcoming official visit to the United Kingdom, she will ask him (a) to arrange for the disclosure of all information in the possession of his Government concerning the interrogation of British prisoners of war by German Army Group E while Dr. Kurt Waldheim was in charge of those interrogations and about their subsequent fate and (b) for his Government's full co-operation with the inquiries being made by Her Majesty's Government in the Waldheim case; and if she will make a statement;

(2) if, when she has discussions with the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany during his forthcoming official visit to the United Kingdom, she will ask him to arrange for his Government to disclose all documents in their possession relating to the whereabouts of Dr. Kurt Waldheim in so far as they relate to periods in respect of which Her Majesty's Government are investigating allegations concerning the interrogation and subsequent fate of British prisoners of war and Dr. Kurt Waldheim's alleged involvement therewith; and if she will make a statement.

The Prime Minister

The Ministry of Defence search of military records for information relevant in the context of the disappearance of British subjects in the Balkans in the second world war is not yet complete. Only when the results are known will the Government be in a position to decide whether it is necessary to seek further information from other sources.
