HC Deb 23 June 1986 vol 100 c48W
Mr. Meacher

asked the Prime Minister if Her Majesty's Government have any plans to transfer public responsibility for any aspects of National Health Service policy and development to the National Health Service Management Board; and if she will make a statement.

The Prime Minister

The National Health Service Management Board was set up in April 1985 within the Department of Health and Social Security by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Social Services to assist him in carrying out the necessary central management functions in respect of the hospitals and community health services in England. There are no present plans to alter the board's formal responsibilities or its accountability to my right hon. Friend and his to Parliament.
