HL Deb 23 June 1986 vol 477 c146WA
Lord Jenkins of Putney

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What are their observations on the message of the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the USSR to the Secretary General of the United Nations of 12th June.

Baroness Young

We have noted the message of 12th June from the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the USSR to the Secretary General of the United Nations. We continue to share the aim of preventing an arms race in space. The message is being examined carefully, bearing in mind the need to avoid duplicating the work of established international fora on questions of disarmament and the peaceful uses of outer space. Meanwhile we are participating in the work of these fora.
