asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what steps are being taken to extend to Spain and Portugal the voluntary agreement on cars reached with Japan.

On their accession to the Community, Spain and Portugal sought and obtained the Community's authority to continue their quantitative restrictions on the import of Japanese vehicles which had existed prior to accession.
