Mr. Chris Smith

asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will indicate in constant prices the annual contribution paid by the United Kingdom Government to the International Atomic Energy Agency since 1957.

The IAEA. regular budget is drawn up in United States dollars and member states contributions are assessed in that currency. The table sets out the United Kingdom's assessed contribution to that budget in the period 1958–1985, together with the equivalent figures at 1985 prices.

Note

There is no immediately appropriate deflator for converting these figures to constant prices. The one employed was the purchasing power of the dollar in terms of United States consumer prices.
