HC Deb 25 July 1986 vol 102 c537W
Mr. Deakins

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) what is the average number of officers by rank allocated to fraud branch cases; how many staff days on average are required to deal with each case; what proportion of cases result in a successful prosecution; and if he will give these figures for each of the past seven years;

(2) what proportion of referrals for investigation by the Metropolitan and City fraud branch come from (a) City institutions, (b) members of the public, (c) companies registered outside the United Kingdom, (d) investigations into other cases, (e) the stock exchange and (f) the Bank of England.

Mr. Mellor

For the only information which is readily available, I would refer the hon. Member to the replies given to questions from the hon. Member for Thurrock (Dr. McDonald) on 27 March at column 550. I understand from the Commissioners of the Metropolitan and City of London police that it is not possible to provide further information save at disproportionate cost.
