Staff of the Health and Safety Executive in administration grades are subject to the Department of Employment group retirement policy. The executive's retirement policy for grades which it manages directly requires the majority of staff, particularly those in more senior grades, to retire at age 60. Staff in junior grades are required to retire at various ages beyond age 60 depending on their grade and length of service. Normally, no officer is employed beyond age 65.
