§ Mr. Meadowcroftasked the Minister for the Civil Service if he will ensure that monitoring of ethnic background of members of the Civil Service is not traceable back to the individuals concerned.
§ Mr. LuceEffective safeguards have been agreed with the Council of Civil Service Unions to ensure the confidentiality of ethnic data and that it is used only to further the Civil Service's policy of equal opportunity. Ethnic monitoring will involve the use of statistical summaries of ethnic information of how people progress at recruitment and promotion but the identities of respondents will not appear.
