§ Mr. Dalyellasked the Prime Minister why she has extended the tenure of office of Sir Robert Armstrong as Cabinet Secretary and head of the Civil Service beyond normal retirement age.
§ The Prime MinisterI have asked Sir Robert Armstrong to continue in office until not later than September 1988, in order to leave the greatest possible degree of freedom for decisions after the general election about the organisation of functions and distribution of duties at the centre of government.
