§ Mr. Rookerasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what information he has on the number of cases of eye disease amongst children as a result of contact with dog faeces each year and as to how many result in the loss of sight.
§ Mr. WhitneyToxocariasis is the main infection which can cause ocular damage as a result of contact with dog faeces. About 50 cases of ocular toxocariasis are reported each year in England and Wales. Information is not held centrally on the medical complications in individual cases which result from this infection.
