HC Deb 26 February 1986 vol 92 cc592-3W
Mr. Thurnham

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what his Department's policy is on the purchases of goods and services; how he is monitoring its effectiveness; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Eggar

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office seeks value for money in its purchases of goods and services in accordance with Treasury guidelines and is currently implementing recommendations in the 1984 Cabinet Office report on Government purchasing. An official in the management review staff is engaged full-time in co-ordinating and monitoring this work and reports to Ministers.
