§ Mr. Willie W. Hamilton
asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will publish a table showing the dates and costs of refits of the Royal Yacht Britannia since 1960, including the estimated cost of the refit planned for 1985–86.

The next refit of HMY Britannia is currently planned to start in January 1987. Because the Government are considering inviting tenders from private sector shipyards the estimated cost is commercially confidential. Details of previous refits since 1960 are given in the table. 543W Although these figures are braodly comparable they are not adjusted for changes in accounting conventions, for example, depreciation and other overheads.
