HC Deb 24 February 1986 vol 92 cc446-7W
Dr. Marek

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what information he has as to the profit Table Bay Marine of Capetown has made out of its trading operations with Tristan da Cunha in the last five years; and whether Her Majesty's Government have provided any funds to the company.

Mr. Eggar

We are informed that Table Bay Marine of Capetown does not keep records of profit/loss derived from its Tristan da Cunha trading operations separate from those of its other operations. However we understand that the company has received agency commission on purchases undertaken on behalf of the Government of Tristan da Cunha, as follows:

Rand
1980–81 21,414.67
1981–82 32,171.03
1982–83 32,909.13
1983–84 30,060.50
1984–85 40,526.82

We have not provided any funds to the company.
