HC Deb 18 February 1986 vol 92 c148W
99. Mr. Hancock

asked the Paymaster General what has been the estimated number of jobs created to date by the small firms loan guarantee scheme; and whether he plans to extend the length of the scheme.

Mr. Trippier

Information from sample surveys suggests that loan guarantees authorised up to 31 May 1984 assisted the creation of about 44,500 jobs. The procedure for calculating the numbers of jobs created is currently under review as part of the current consideration of the future of the scheme. No decision has yet been reached on a further extension of the scheme.
