§ Mr. Giles ShawAction has been taken on the specific recommendations for the police in Lord Scarman's report on the 1981 Brixton disorders. The principles of policing upon which Lord Scarman based his proposals continue to be the underlying principles of policing in this country, and will continue to be developed to try to meet the needs of the community which the police serve.
