§ Mr. Latham
asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) what are the current whereabouts of the offside rear shock absorber of the crashed three-wheel carriage driven by Mrs. B. of Rutland, (Department Reference PO(5) 4374/61); and why it was removed by representatives of his Department prior to the second visit by Mrs. B's consultant engineer to the Ministry's retained garage in December 1983;
(2) what tests were carried out by representatives of his Department on the removed shock absorber of Mrs. B. of Rutland's invalid carriage prior to December 1983; why they were only instigated after the first report in May 1983 by Mrs. B's consultant engineer; what was the result of the tests; and what steps were taken to notify Mrs. B's legal advisers of the findings;
(3) why no response was made by his Department's Artificial Limb and Appliance Centre at Sherwood hospital to the oral and written complaints made by Mrs. B of Rutland (Reference PO(5) 4374/61) about the condition of her three-wheeled invalid carriage in February 1982; and if he will make a statement.
